Why we practice:
We practice to restore the flower within.
We practice to restore the mountain within.
We practice to restore the still water within.
We practice to restore space within.
Directions:
For this practice, each pebble represents an image in nature. Each image reifies a particular quality: freshness, solidity, calmness, and freedom.
You may recite this metta practice in the morning or at night before bed with or without a parent.
First, take one pebble at a time from your pebble bag and place it in the palm of your hand.
Look at the pebble with fresh eyes and recite the corresponding phrase.
Smile to your pebble, and place it next to you on your right.
Select the next pebble and continue.
When you are finished you may repeat the practice or place the pebbles back in your bag. If you are with another person bow to that person. If you have a bell, tap the bell as you breath in and out. While the bell sounds breathe in and out three times. Also you may smile to complete the practice.
